Lea Parker-Bond started
rescuing animals in February 1998 and formally set up the Tigger
Trust in Co. Kerry in January 2002. It is named after Tigger, one
of our cats who sadly died at a young age and to whom this site
is dedicated.
We have re-homed hundreds of animals in the Republic of Ireland
and our job is to ensure that each animal goes to the best home
they possibly can.
Until such an opportunity arises, they are fostered or cared for
by the original owners.
We are commited to educating about the importance of spaying and
neutering as well as the importance of vaccinations, worming and
de-fleaing plus yearly check ups at a reliable vets.
For the future we hope to achieve suitable
foster homes for unwanted animals, build facilities where there
is an onsite vet. Lea is striving to achieve her own premises where
animals can have free reign and live in a safe environment whilst
waiting for new owners and is constantly trying to educate people
on the importance of a well looked after animal.
Horses are another animal Lea would like
to be able to cater for in the future.
More inspectors are desperately needed
in Kerry and funding is required to achieve all of the goals to
acquire necessary equipment, medical supplies etc.
We welcome any ideas, comments and help
with fundraising as with your help we can control the animal problems
in Kerry and the whole of Ireland.
Well done to all the other organisations who like the Tigger Trust
are working hard to achieve some sort of control within the animal
population.
I would also like to thank our local vets
for all their help: Richard Hurley's Veterinary Hospital, Brewery
Road, Tralee, 066-7129760, William O'Riordain, Abbeyfeale Vets,
068-31059 who joined the Trust in 2008 and also Donal Murphy Vets
in Rathmore, 064-58009.
Many thanks to all the staff in your
help with Tigger Trust.
Tigger Trust recieves yearly goverment funding from the Minister
of Food & Agriculture. Other funding comes from donations from
the public also and if anyone would like to do a fundraiser for
Tigger Trust, that would be most welcome.
