Sam has been waiting for a new home only since the beginning of May 2008.
Now (at the end of May) we found him a great new home and when we
rang the original owner they told us that he had been removed! This
is highly frustrating and another reason why a proper facility is
needed here. A lovely animal unwanted and not given much of a chance
to be found a new home.
Buster
was a lovely dog, loved children and affection. He was amongst many
other dogs. Unfortunately, like so many, he was not vaccinated. All
was well for a few years but a new dog came in and spread the parvo
desease. Buster lost his life.
A story of 20 Cats
These pictures are of an area in the country in county Kerry. Originally
there were 20 cats, but some have new, good homes, so now there are
16 left. With the kind help of a volunteer we have had them all spayed
and neutered.
The old black cat laying on the table was basically left for dead.
He was found with a collapsed lung due to broken ribs and a broken
jaw. Total filthy in muck and eyes streaming. After many weeks of
intense care he made a full recovery.
Several of the other cats were bottlefed from a few weeks old,
and others had severe cat flu. Now all of them are doing great
and are safe in a location where they have a lot of places to play
in and live out their lives peacefully.
A local butcher helps out by giving the carers chicken and another
person gives cat food from time to time. A few of these cats you
see have got new homes to go to.
With funding, time, care and the appropriate medical attention, these
cats have been given a good quality of life now.
This story, we hope, will help you to consider setting up a standing
order for a small amount every month so we can help more animals
like these to stop suffering.

Alli
is a 4 year old Boxer dog. He lives with 2 other dogs, 2 rescue
cats and Guinea Pigs. Boxers are one of the most loving dogs
and love children.
Many people think they are vicious because of they way they
look. They are not at all. When you are considering a dog
as a pet, make sure you know exactly what you are taking
on and are given the correct information.
Pedigree animals for example may look lovely but they also
need things that common cross breed do not. Also, puppies
grow and some grow into big dogs.
Training is important at an early stage but the rewards are
great. You need to be dedicated to giving the animal a good
life. So please think before you decide which animal you would
like. Also as we always stress, neutering is so important.
So many unwanted puppies and cats are left for animal welfare
groups to try and re-home whilst others are simply just dumped
to fend for themselves.
 Pumpkin
was re-homed earlier in the year with a problem with his fur.
He was very sick and was found to have leukaemia. Cats with
this disease can live wonderful lives. Yes it can be passed
on to other cats but there are precautions that can be made
like having other cats vaccinated, cutting the nails back
in case the infected cat fights, and removing their teeth
too. The best thing is to make it an only cat. Here is one
picture of how he looked and the other two are of him 7 months
later. As you can see he is a handsome fella now. He is very
loved and a pure pet in his new home.
